Description
The 11ha estate is located right next door to 1st growth Château Pavie and is well known in wine circles to have an exceptional terroir. The vineyard holdings are composed of south facing vines on the plateau planted on limestone as well as some on the slopes of the Côte Pavie on chalky limestone and clay soils. The wine became popular since 2005 after Stephane Derenoncourt and Nicolas Thienpont, both right bank specialists, took over joint responsibility for estate management and winemaking. The vineyards are planted 75% to Merlot with the remainder Cabernet Franc, a varietal that has become more important since 2003.
